About Northwest Arctic Borough
Northwest Arctic Borough covers 35,672 square miles of northern Alaska, with the borough seat at Kotzebue. The borough levies no property tax, so there is no borough assessor and no property tax bill. Deeds are not recorded by the borough: every Alaska land document goes to a state recording district office. The borough handles planning and land use rules everywhere except inside Kotzebue, which runs its own zoning.
