About Petersburg Borough

Petersburg Borough covers 2,902 square miles of southeastern Alaska, with the borough seat at Petersburg. The borough assessor sets property values and the borough bills and collects the tax, but deeds are not recorded by the borough: every Alaska land document goes to a state recording district office. The borough handles planning and land use rules everywhere except inside Kupreanof, which runs its own zoning.
