About Northern Islands Municipality
Northern Islands Municipality covers 62 square miles of Northern Mariana Islands, with the municipality seat at Pagan. The municipality elects a mayor and runs local services. The Commonwealth has no property tax on land or buildings, so there is no property tax bill. Land work is Commonwealth-wide: the Commonwealth Recorder keeps recorded land documents, Land Registration and Survey keeps the survey and title records, and the Department of Public Lands handles leases and homesteads on public land.
