About St. Thomas Island

St. Thomas Island covers 31 square miles of United States Virgin Islands. This is an island district, not a government of its own. In the Lieutenant Governor's Office the Tax Assessor values property, the Tax Collector bills it, and the Recorder of Deeds keeps recorded land documents. Planning, zoning and building permits come from the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
